2020 TFT module
« on: November 06, 2019, 09:11:56 PM »
Question....

I purchased a 2019 Tripple Black XR.  Now has 5k miles.  I have 2 dislikes about the bike.  The headlights and the instrument cluster.   Working on the headlights now.   Video soon to follow.   But whats the general thoughts about the new 2020 TFT module for the new 2020 BMW S1000XR,  do you think its possible to retro fit it to the 2019 XR?   It would seem to me to be possible, but I am not sure.   I love my bike, but that TFT module would keep me happy for years to come :)

Whats your opinions or knowledge/understanding about this.   Anyone else thinking the same thing?  or am I way off base here?

Like anything, I’m sure with enough effort and ingenuity it could be done but I think it would be very cost prohibitive. There will be very different electronics in the new model that’s providing the information, along with extra sensors I’d imagine.

Yep, agree with Gusthemus, in no way will it be plug 'n play, the TFT mountings will also be very different etc..etc..

THB...there's nowt wrong with the <20 Gen-1 XR, most of us have one.....The 20> Gen-2 XR is a totally different animal.

I've had both on a GS and until they fully incorporate navigation into the TFT unit, I prefer the clock display.

Susan, it will be next to impossible to upgrade to the new TFT. The main Brain is probably different.
