Mine is a metal box, but I understand your worries about leaving stuff :-)

Winger let me put some faith back!
I went to the NEC for the bike show to do the Get On a bike instruction and managed to leave my satnav on my seat in the holder and the bike was right near to the door so everyone must have walked by and it was still there at 6pm when I left. :005:

My excuse was it was very early in the morning when I arrived!
After over thirty + years behind the bars, there's still lots to do and see.

Probably an age related thing.  Good that nobody took it.  :305:

Seriously we should have a thread about what folks take on a trip,we take a 50l soft with a few bits and bobs on the top when needs be and a tank bag  for two of us for 2 weeks on the road what on earth are you guys taking that needs panniers.

Although I have to say my wife does the packing....

Cant see how you manage with that unless you (and MRS Winger) dont change your clothes, wash, lube the chain, carry some tools etc.  :305:

My wife who after me quoting your post is currently a foot off the floor!!!her short reply get a woman to to do the packing!!! The long reply we have clean socks/undies/tee shirt everyday, plus one pair of jeans and two pairs of shorts,3 extra tops each for night time, plus even our PJ’s  :008: + toiletries +warm top.

First 4 days of clothes that we have put to one side during the year go in the bin,add buying a couple of tee shirts along the way and no problem without panniers, even had a couple friends travel with us last year who pack the kitchen sink and even got them down to a tank bag and 50l soft bag on the back they were astonished at how much junk they had been carrying previously.

Need anything else buy on the road.
