@thesasquatch :152:. But you say you have a sargeant seat on order? You know the seat is totally different than de previous model? The rubber 'bungs' are now on the seat, not on the bike. And did you get the high seat (+20mm) option? I'm 6' 4" and have a custom +40mm seat on my 2016, which won't fit the 2020

Thanks for the review. Very honest.
I haven't ridden one yet , I hope that I like it when I do. The one thing that would stop me getting one is the colour choices. I'm not keen. But I have only seen pics and YouTube reviews so far.
As soon as lockdown in England is lifted I'll go and have a look.
Enjoy your bike and be safe. :305:
Cheers. Andy

Congratulations on your new bike and I wish you many happy, fast, joyful and safe miles with it !
Thank you for a detailed review - it confirms that my decision on buying one is more than good :002:. I'm still waiting on mine, probably start of June, provided that they start the production in the next couple of days.
Since you are talking about adding some parts to it, I've managed to get the part number for the OEM water/oil radiator guards for the 2020 model, so here it is: 77 31 8414688
Please note that this is taken from part catalog for EU models, but I don't think it's any different for USA.
I've already ordered it for my (future) bike. Here it costs 50 EUR for a complete set, so definitely worth it

re the radiator guards, I've ordered them too but they are plastic like on BMW cars. It's not rock solid aluminium like the Evotechs. But probably 500grammes lighter too. Being flexible I think they'll work just as well. Definitely worth having, my 2016 radiators are in new condition thanks to the guards. But the paint (powder coating?) on the guards directly behind the front wheel is gone, just like being sand blasted

Thanks for your review....As you've found out, the Gen-1 XR is completely different to the Gen-2, there's pretty much no interchangeable parts.....you mentioned you ordered a Sargent seat, unfortunately this is also a waste of your time and money.
There will be no aftermarket parts and accessories for the Gen-2 XR other than genuine BMW parts. lt will take several months before they start rolling out....it was the same for the 15 model too.

Got hold of this months addition of Motorcycle Sport & Leisure read the test on the new X/R classic BM just rounding off the edges, all the less vibration means with no engine balancer, someone is taking the time to weigh Conrods and match the weight 4 at a time.

My pet hate with mine is the gap between top and bottom panel which the new one has filled in,but this X/R is the only one I’ll be buying it’s taken some time and effort an no little money but most bikes take about the same to get rid of anything that the TUV have had their sticky hands.

Thanks for the kind words on my review gents.

(I can actually feel Smithy's eyes rolling through my computer screen as he read my review as he had already warned me that '15-19 parts wouldn't fit my bike).  :112: :033: :164:
Update: I contacted Sargent and had them cancel my seat order until they do their own fitment homework with the OEM and develop the new seat style. Thanks for jogging my brain and making me think twice.

Gonna have to learn to love the new bike without the ergonomics in perfect order. What a sacrifice.. (feeling like a pompous prick in the midst of a world crisis).

Thanks again for the feedback fellas.

Cheers.

Don't feel bad mate, you weren't to know. I've ordered incorrect parts for my motorcycles before....and probably will again... :034: I suspect there's quite a few of us who have owned a few bikes and are in the same boat. My Father has an old saying..."He who makes no mistakes...makes nothing".
