Seriously,  get a second bike for the track if you can. Its always too much of a compromise.

I have always liked the idea of the GT. I am on the I want sport bike that can tour rather than a tourer that's a bit sporty end of the spectrum, if you know what I mean.

My previous 5 bikes were all for the track but I got the XR specifically because it is more practical day to day. The GT looks like it may strike a better balance.

Got both.
Both awesome bikes, but the GT is way more sporty / aggressive, better suspension, better front brakes, sportier riding position, and it shunts out of corners using the torque like nothing else I've ridden.
Toured 2 up on it too and it was almost perfect, I find it very comfortable.
If you're looking for sportier but good for touring, I don't think you'll be dissapointed
