G'Day from Straya
« on: May 15, 2020, 01:38:02 AM »
Been on here for a few weeks and thought it might be time to say G'Day.
Picked up a brand new 2019 model in April and put on 2000km since. Love this thing.
Coming from a CBR1000RR, R1200GS, TLR1000, ZXR750.....and so on for the last 40 years.
This XR is without a doubt the best ride I've had....except it was nearly a multistrada. I was torn between the two for weeks. After many hours in the saddle I'm certain I chose the better one.
However, my bike seems to be the only stock standard XR in existence. Standard forks (no ESA) with manual adjustment. Yes that's right, bog stock standard BMW suspension and its F%$*ing amazing! I cant compare it to the XRs with ESA (because I haven't spent any time on one), but I can compare it to every other bike I've had and the BMW standard suspension blitz's them all.
With standard suspension it also has no Dynamic or dynamic pro mode.....like I said, bog stock standard. If I want fully sick mode I just turn ABS and ASC then voila, DYNAMIC PRO PLUS  :001:
Why did I buy an old school standard suspension bike I hear you ask. Simple, availability and price! A$18k (US$12k or UK$9.5k) brand new off the floor and I ain't disappointed.
Just need to swap the T30s to M9RRs. Cold T30s have left brown stains in pants.
Anyway, good to meet you lads, and I'll catch you around.

Thanks lads!
Yeah, the bike doesn't get out much down here in winter. Nice frost this morning. Only 5 months of freezing to go  :232: Anyway, I'd prefer this over the heat and fires (smoke) we had over summer.

G'day Buckled...  :400: to the forum  :305:
Let me know if the cam chain tensioner rattle has started yet. Still have a mechanical one looking for a good home  :038:

Serge, I didn't know about the Cam chain tensioner issues.
I haven't noticed any rattles or odd noises yet.
Thanks for the offer mate. If I have any dramas I'll let you know.

G’day, or good day Buckled. You made the right decision. I had a multi, it was shite from a reliability point of view. Had my XR for 3 years now, never looked at another bike since. Ride on.
