2020 XR Radiator and Oil Cooler Guards
« on: June 10, 2020, 04:43:40 AM »
Just picked up the new 2020 XR. Absolutely love the bike. Can't wait to see what else comes out for the bike. Not much out there yet. Just fitted the factory rad and oil cooler guard from BMW.

Ouch... BMW guards? Dare I ask how much they stung you for?
And I wasn't aware the new model came with self stabilising option (last pic)  :745:

They're not to pricey. I want to say they were $80 for both oil and rad covers. Very reasonable.

Haha center stand makes working on the thing a breeze.  Have you seen the self driving GS they came up with?

Congrats, I just picked up a 2020 as well in the same color with the Carbon package.  My dealer also had some of these in the warehouse for $69 plus tax.  For BMW that’s a steal!

Hoping my new bike comes with Guards as well(could not order along with new bike in Jan). I see you have gone with the faster Grey painted model. Same as mine  :152: :152:

I assume you had to pull the front inter fairing off??  Just got my BMW guards (no instructions) no screws just clips. Going to take a look and and see if I can figure it out.

EDIT: Easy to do Pull off the inner fairing 6 screws on each side. Guards go on the inside and clips hold them in place. There is a wire in a clip at the top you need to watch for and two tubes at the bottom of the inner fairing.  Picture of the clips below.

appreciate the info. Good to know when they arrive. Although not sure why these are not fitted as standard.

That's because they can charge you extra for them.

Edge-on honeycomb looks good and won't impede air-flow, but - are they just plastic?

Time will tell, but my initial thoughts are that they will quickly become damaged.  You may say - that is their purpose, but could be an annual expense to renew.
