Best service manual to buy
on: July 23, 2020, 04:02:58 PM
Hi all, what’s your view on the best service manual for a 2015 S1000XR? I've trawled through quite a few posts with people talking about Mark Barretts service manual and the Haynes one but can't seem to fine which is rated more :084:. I'm quite used to servicing other bikes (though not usually as complex as the XR) and have always used Haynes in the past. Also, I’m hoping to change the fork oil in my 16k mile bike in the near future so clear step by step instruction with clear pics would be appreciated :028:

Cheers

Mark's is excellent and focused on routine maintenance and other DIY service...

Nope.  I've seen haynes in the past for different cars/bikes, but not for this bike.  Everyone here likes this one, so I bought it a year or two ago and haven't looked back.

I have the Haynes manual(as well as the BMW  Maint DVD). Haynes is pretty good as far as I'm concerned, though not compared it to anything else.

I have both Marks and the Haynes manual. For servicing Marks is much better in my opinion, very well written and easy to follow. The Haynes covers the R and RR and jumps around a fair bit. When I wasn't sure about a particular point I emailed Mark and got a fast response that answered my question. Highly recommend

My thoughts exactly....l have both and use Mark Barrett's service manual, well worth the purchase price.

Having not looked into this  :112: I ordered the Haynes manual about a month ago and was so disappointed with tissue paper quality and like others have said the jumping around with the other 2 models, just received Mark's manual yesterday & so much better with the quality and layout, also instantly saw a nice little tip for checking the calibration on my 2 torque wrenches  :028:

Does anyone know how I can get my hands on a Mark Barrett manual for a Gen2 XR in the UK?

Thanks
