My mostest tank range
« on: August 01, 2020, 09:40:09 PM »
Filled up with 98RON in France and did a mixture of Paege and Motorway in UK.

Had 9 miles left in the tank by the computer, and chanced the 3mile to the nearest fuel station the next day.

Got there without a hiccup, with 6 miles remaining and 209 miles completed.

Not bad for cruise-control at around 75mph (sat-nav true).

{edit} One-up with panniers and topbox, all full.

At least I know now - how far I can push the computer-range when required. (As long as calibration remains)

I frequently get well in excess of 350km during my work commute, it's mainly 100kmh motorway though. I should add l have an RBE and full Arrow headers and use my own map.

Dang. I wish I could get mileage like that. I rarely get better than 32-34mpg.

Your gallon is quite a bit smaller than ours, so you won't be far off.

I haven’t had my 2019 long and filled it up for the eighth time today. I got the most mileage to a tank out mine today at 193 miles. It took 18.85 ltrs which works out at 46.5 UK mpg. I was showing 4 miles of range.

So assuming I do 10 miles to a litre in theory I could possibly go another 10 miles or so when the range shows the dashes. Who plays fuel roulette and how far have you been when the bike says you are empty?

On my previous Z1000SX when it showed the dashes I knew I had another 25-30 miles to find a fuel station.

I’ve done 185 miles after chickening out and not trusting the range  , but after filling up the calculation showed I would have managed to touch the 200 mile mark. It’s a pretty amazing bike this all told.

I've run 175 miles on a tank but have drilled a vent hole in the collar at the top on the filler neck. Allows maybe another 1/2 gallon in the tank.

I get 45 mpg (US) most of the time, with the computer showing 46 mpg, so that's pretty close.  My reserve light usually comes on around 175 miles.  A number of things in my favor:  I ride solo, unloaded most of the time, 50-60 mph most of the time in Colorado mountain canyon roads or county roads.  Not a lot of high speed highways for me.

I love this bike.

That must be around 2 litres?  Didn't realise it could be that much of a difference (20miles-worth).  That is my next mod, if that is the case!

What I should have done the other day - was stuck a 5ltr can of fuel in the topbox and gone for a run around the area to see when the first 'fuel stutter' occurred, and then decanted to get to fuel station.
