My 2019 Triple Black heated grips work very well in both modes and at times the high mode is too high

I have an '18 plate XR and the standard heated grips are crap, as were the sets on two previous GS's. The last decent grips on a BM were on a late 80's K100 !
I opted for Gerbring plug in heated gloves and they are far more practical at providing heat to the whole hand and are temp controlled by the thermostat

I have a 2019 XR, heated grips work fine, I ride year round here in Colorado and low setting is what I use.  High setting is too hot.

Just did some testing. I suspect my left / clutch grip is faulty.

Using my Fluke IR thermometer, the throttle grip heats up to 60 celsius and is relatively uniform in temperature. It definitely got hotter now (subjectively speaking) than it did last night.

The clutch grip on the other hand is 10 - 15 degrees cooler than the throttle grip. Most of the grip hovers around 45 - 48 celsius with tiny parts of the grip hitting 52 / 53 celsius for short periods of time. Temperatures much less uniform than the throttle grip.

The voltage regulation controlling the heat output also appears to also be quite heavy handed (no pun intended) as it cycles the voltage for long enough for temperatures to drop considerably before kicking back in instead of being quick on the on/off

I currently have a KTM 1290 SAS and my throttle is also hotter than the clutch. Complained to the dealer when it was new and their response was along the lines of the clutch side is on the handlebar so loses heat through the metal where the throttle is on a plastic sleeve. Makes sense in a way so I left it there -  just figured the system wasn't that good.

Before the KTM I had a triumph explorer and the heated grips on that were awesome.

If any of you with a 2019 bike and grips that get nice and toasty have access to an IR thermometer, I'd be curious to know what temperature they heat up to on hot setting
