I have an XT and a Nav V and I have run them both on the bike (in fact its quite useful having 2 on the bike when touring)

The XT is so much faster than the Nav V. I don't know how that compares to the VI

Pretty much everything is better on the the XT than V. I do miss being able to zoom with the wonder wheel though, but thats probably the only Nav feature thats useful over a standard Satnav without integration.

Though the XT being a new product the firmware was not quite as stable as the Nav V and it crashed a few times.

All in all though the XT is a fine bit of kit, particularly I like the fact I can create route on MRA on my phone and load it onto the XT via the Garmin Drive app.

I also used to have a TomTom  Rider 3 which worked really well, obviously not as full featured as a modern unit, but it did do what it said on the tin.

Is it possible to list the Type of Sat Nav that are compatible with the BMW Cradle.
Obviously only a few that have the 6 or 7 pin configuration? Did not want to go down the route having to remove and rewire in my old Garmin. However dont want the £600 investiment in the NAV 6 if there are other alternatives that slot straight in??

Its fairly simple to swap the original BMW mount for a TomTom mount although I did buy the cable to allow me to plug the TomTom straight into the original BMW mount connection point.

I think they have all been listed on here:
  • NAV IV
  • NAV V
  • NAV VI
  • Garmin 660 (Doesn't work with wonder wheel)

I've not heard of any others?

FYI Nav IV doesn't work with the wonderwheel either, same as the 660.

Didn't know that. I had a NAV IV on my K1600GT and it worked fine with the wonderwheel. Just assumed it did with other BMWs as well.   :034:

I'm hijacking the thread a bit but, Molsal - where did you get your fender extender from?

I need one of those but I didn't think parts manufactures had brought anything to the market yet?

Cheers,
Andy

I believe the front fender/mud gaurd on the 2020 is the same as the Gen-1...so the older extender should fit.

As "the bartender" said above Pyramid Plastics. Put one on my Gen 2 and like Mosals picture drilled it and used the plastic rivets - don't expect it to stay on with the sticky pads supplied or just glue.
