Nav V not charging
« on: April 01, 2016, 09:16:06 AM »
Hi folks

My Nav V unit is dead as a dodo and won't charge on the bike, am I right in thinking the bike mount is fitted by the dealer? Does anyone know where the plug for the bike mount is to hook it into the electrics, I was going to check this,  my dealer is a bit of a trek away.

Has it always been dead, or was working before and now isnt?

Over the last 8 months there have been several reports of the sat nav mount wiring not being connected at PDI - I dont know where it plugs into so unless someone comes along here soon with the answer I'd phone your dealer, ask to speak to a mechanic and get them to tell you where the electrics plug in.

If I swap it onto a 2016 GS (mates bike) the charge symbol comes up on the screen, it does nothing at all on my bike.  Just phoned dealers they want to look at it which is a bit of a pain.

Was the mount fitted by the dealer.? or factory.?
The plugs are located under/around the beak I think, two in total
just check that there plugged in.?

Hi Mick, not sure where it was fitted it's a sport SE from Jefferies.

Cheers for the link, will have a good look under the beak in the morning.

Is it a new Nav v, or from your last bike?

It's from my last bike Rich, not been used for 6 months, I swapped it onto my mates 2016 GS after the XR and the screen shows charging needed graphics, but nothing at all on screen on the XR.

Seems strange then. When I got my first nav v, it wouldn't charge. Then I realised I hadn't put the battery in! :745: :745: :745:

The SE version of the S1000XR came with the Nav V mount installed from factory. I would suspect the dock is bad and needs replacing. Could just be a badly aligned pin but would not let them try and fix it, it will fail sooner or later with a re-bent pin.

That would make sense it is an SE, looked under the headstock and nothing obvious.  Trip to the dealers.
