R&G are now shipping side stand exrensions for the 2020 xr owners, got mine today, expensive but beautifully engineered.

Did you get this to increase the footprint, or make the stand a bit longer? Both?
I have a backorder at R&G waiting for supply, I could be tempted to tweak it.

It's for both, i intend to add a block of something to the base of the stand extension which, is perfectly smooth and flat, so easy to bond something to it.

Thanks.
The sidestand is, imo, much too short, it leaves someone like me with a 30-31" inseam looking for the right spot to park and still feeling like I'm going to drop it. I wish BMW just sold a longer one as an option.

Does anyone know if the 2020 side stand is the same as the 2015-2019 version?

Good to know, thank you.
I mounted my panniers over the weekend and came to two conclusions:
(1) There is no way I'm getting the bike onto its main stand when its loaded, the panniers restrict me a little and I simply cannot get enough weight on the stand.
(2) The lean from the side stand is going to make it a challenge to even get it upright if it is loaded and fully fueled.
The R&G foot looks pretty good, but shipping costs make it rather expensive, so I'm looking for alternatives. Overall, it's like the main stand is too tall and the side stand too short.

The R&G extension doesn't noticeably decrease the lean angle, it does stop your stand sinking in slightly soft ground. It does however provide a large flat clean area to bond some thickness to it thereby making for a less aggressive lean angle on the side stand. Good point about getting the bike on the centre stand when loaded up, very difficult without help.

I have the Gen1 2019XR and just received the SW Motech side stand extension yesterday which looks similar to the R&G insofar that it isn’t going to take much lean angle off so also going to look at engineering some sort of block to attach to the bottom

I came across this for the 2020 on a US parts site, oddly it lists 2 different part numbers for the actual side stand, both USD193.03, which makes me wonder if there is a short and long version:
https://parts.bmwmotorcyclesofutah.com/a/BMW_2020_S1000XR/_51680_8403965/Side-stand/46_2247.html
Part numbers 46538404584 and 46538404585, no details in the descriptions and no luck with more searches. My dealer should be open again tomorrow so I'll ask them what the difference is, I honestly cannot imagine a shorter one unless it is for the lowered suspension model we have over here...
