How it should be!  :028:

When I removed the OEM headers and therefore exhaust valve I did think of cable tying the cables out of the way but then saw Cuban Rider’s video on YouTube regarding changing headers and realised removing the cables from the servo wasn’t too bad a job at all and obviously no inoperative cables dangling  :082:

Remove the servo from the bike so you can remove the cables  completely, then put the servo back and leave it plugged in

I would like to do it the half asssed way so I can put the cables back without much effort if needed. From 2022 on Belgium will have a vehicle inspection for motorcycles, it's not clear yet what they will check but emissions and sound is a possibility.

I did the "half-ass" job of simply disconnecting the servo cables at the valve. I have the optional Akrapovik sports exhaust on a 2021 XR. I am super happy with this mod, was too quiet before. For those that say this bike lacks character, this is not longer the case for me.

Hey Flafonta , with the half job how did you fasten the cables from below. i have the 2021 model and I also want more noise but don't want to take out the servo motor.

thanks

Chicane46, I simply left the 2 actuator cables loose and put the cover back on. Not ideal as they are moving cables. But no issues so far.

The valve "defaults" to and is spring loaded open. If you disconnect the cables it will throw a fault code, but not usually a fault light..... the stepper motor travels are now not what they were set to at the factory.

I don't see a light, and I did get the dealer to do a regular service, they did not complain. But I know it is not ideal.

I initially thought about just tying back the cables and leaving them as couldn’t really see where the servo was hidden but once I found it (after watching Cuban Riders YouTube vid on changing headers) I realised it was only one bolt holding the servo on and it slides out, yes a bit fiddly but my ocd head isn’t now thinking of those cables working in and out and open to the elements  :084:

yesterday pulled out the cables first it went well but as soon as the engine gets warmer an error message came up. I don't feel like removing the entire servo motor, I can just unplug the plugs and plug in the servo eliminator plug. does no one have pictures of the act?
