Paddock stand bobbins on a 2020 carbon sport
on: February 05, 2021, 12:26:01 AM
Hmmm ok guys I give up, I've searched on here and the net and ill be buggered if I can figure it out.

So seriously, am I to drill and tap into the swing arm to locate rear stand bobbins? cause there is no location point anywhere on the rear swing arm that I can see?

Or do I use a rear axel spool instead? I would prefer the bobbins but of course if that's not doable?

Apologies in advance for the rookie question and if I have missed a previous thread outlining this

Thanks in advance TuX

Gen-1 has holes for them, don't know why the Gen-2 was produced without them.

I presume because BMW offer a chain tensioner with stand mountings.

Do they now, well that's an important piece of the puzzle isn't it

Is there any elegant solution out there yet for the paddock stand fitment for an XR 2020 model? I have an Abba stand, but it's a pain to use and I'd prefer a paddock stand fitment.

Thanks Sthap - I found the photo. As I'm terminally lazy, I'll wait until first tyre change to fit it, unless anyone is aware of an (easier fit) axle bobbins option? I couldn't see one when I googled it.

It looks to me like a stand similar to that used for the bottom of the front fork might work for the rear swingarm. My front stand is too narrow and my rear stand is an older type that will not accept this type of attachment, so I cannot do a test. You might want to ask Pitbull.

There is this style, but there may be a bit of flex in the frame, which would not be a good thing.

Maybe once fitted - a reusable cable tie to secure to each arm would be a help?
