Interesting article in today’s comic....between Kawasaki’s Versys and the current X/R...make of it what you will, but an interesting read considering the price gap.

I had one for a few hours when my previous bike Kawasaki GTR 1400 went in for service and wasn’t impressed, then when I test rode the XR a few months later it was like chalk and cheese and I was smitten  :020:

I saw that - the measure was "best value" and they compared a bike that costs under £13k new with a bike costing nearly £20k new.

Perhaps they should have compared the Versys with a used BMW costing £13k, including looking at what they would have been worth after a 3 year loan is paid off?

It's Bauer via MCN, so you cannot expect a rational comparison. I guess they are schmoozing Kawasaki to renew their advertising budget.

Having worked for the comic as a subcontractor, do have some sympathy with them trying to please all the people all of the time, but was taken aback at the price of the current X/R having not been checking on such for some years  :156:

Lasting impression from the article was the XR was still the better (sportier) bike as long as you change the seat :046:

Just read the article - not on their Route 250 for some reason?  Only three stars for the XR, good grief. Mainly down to price as the Kawasaki was cheaper, bit of a silly comparison between the two bikes.

Have to say things are getting out of control with new bikes. Just been looking at a new XR which came out as £19k on the configurator and the V4 Multistrada that came out at £23k  :005:

Re. the Bike/MCN 250 - I think they have abandoned the one through the Cotswolds as our local camera vans have cottoned on. They have been targeting roads around Stowe on the Wold, Broadway, Andoversford and Cirencester.

As for bike prices, I just made the same point on another forum where someone posted a review of the new V4 Multistrada. All this tech is great but it has driven up costs to a point where many are unlikely to buy another new bike.

You really do have to take a step back and wonder, had a mail turn up yesterday for a KTM GT new 2020 pre reg for £13,900, I custom ordered my X/R, well I didn’t someone else did which is another story, Non ESA so had to wait around 6 weeks and that 21 reg Multistrada is over 10 grand more than I paid in 2016 completely bonkers.
