Scottoiler for 2020 XR
on: February 12, 2021, 07:30:21 PM
Has anyone fitted a Scottoiler to their Gen2 XR? Do I need an electronic version which seems to retail at nearly £300, or can I use the regular version?

Thanks.

I have the pro-oiler which is currently £254, but unsure what  you would pay. Excluding taxes it would be 190, and that includes the gps module. Aside from the display I've on top of the right fork, under the bar, it's invisible. It uses a solenoid pump, with a bit of diy the tiny oil line runs behind the chain protector on the swing arm, and into it. Oil is pumped out thru two vertical holes underneath the chain, and the chain picks it up. Carried it over from my 2016 on which it worked fine.

The pump is i this one from Gotec (Switzerland), the version with flying leads (two wires). It works with AC pulses.

You need the electronic version of the Scottoiler on all XRs, pre-20 included

here's the link to Tutoro https://www.tutorochainoiler.com/ - the factory is not far from me in Lydney and I visited them. The owner is very helpful if you need fitting advice. I had one on my Tracer which was used all year for commuting. It works well and was easy to fit.

I haven't bothered on the XR as it is a toy. I have a shaft driven bike now for commuting and crap weather.

Just had a look at the maintenance free chain, it does sound tempting but with my OCD head on - how would you know if a link or 2 ever failed and ran dry ?

Yeah no what you mean , if I’m riding local I won’t use the oiler but on a big trip I will turn it on just for piece of mind.

Cobrra Nemo 2 is also a very nice system. And much cheaper. No electronics, vacuum. It is fully manual, but very simple and easy to use
