    OEM Top Box

    Hi all,
I have a small OEM Top Box that has decided to stop opening.
I 'unlock' by pushing the key in the lock,
The red handle pops out, I lift it (or pull) as per the manual but the top doesn't release/ open !

    DOOHHH !!!

Does anyone know of a way of getting into the thing without resorting to my 'inner chimp' please & likely ruining it ?

For reference, I can get the box off the bikes luggage rack in the 'usual manner'.

    Thanks in advance

If you are doing it as per the manual can't think what the problem might be but are you sure you are turning the key to the left before pushing the lock barrel in? The release lever pops up when you turn the key to the right but the lid only opens when turned to the left.

Have you 'over-filled' it? I made that mistake a few times on a previous BMW, before I finally learned my lesson.
I sprayed WD40 and wiggled the key around until it finally 'gave' and opened. TBH - I was expecting to have to resort to brute force!!!

Off topic, but I also find the bloody seat 'reluctant' to release!!

I had exactly the same thing happen to mine. It was pretty full and I had to push firmly down on the lid before the slides that unlocked the lid would open.

I then dismantled it and filed the molded housing next to the slides so it wouldn't happen again. It's not well designed.

Drive all year round,  the backside off the bike often covert in dirt.   That dirt also gets in the mechanism of the box en makes it hard to open.
Pressing the lid down and try to open it.
I tried to clean it with air and lubbet is with PFTE spray,  seems to work for now

Overfilling is also stressing the mechanism, and does block it
