Because when you move the lever at no speed it's only against the overcentre spring force. If you move it at speed you need to overcome the windforce too. If it fails it's a €200 assembly if you do it yourselves. It's only plastic..

I can't agree.
I always thought BMW put cruise control on the Mk1 so we could alter the screen safely......... using two hands and without slowing down

Easy enough to do it with one, but anything that makes ergonomics and user friendliness better is welcome.
