    Gen 2 sump weeping issue

    Hi guys
Has anyone had a good look under there bike at the sump? Recently had a look at mine and the corrosion is horrendous for a bike that's cleaned after every ride, also noticed some oil weeping at the back of the sump, opposite  end to the sump plug.
Looks like a small plug of some sort weeping, but can't be a 100% sure
    Bike only has 1200 miles

There's a guy on S1000xr FB page with 444 miles on his gen2 which has just dumped most his oil out from there, all over rear tyre. From the replies it's not the first. And the pics he put up shows some horrendous corrosion underneath the bike for such low miles.

I see that on a Facebook group, turns out he has a small hole in the sump a few inches above the sump plug

Noticed the poor condition of the sump protrusion on my Gen2 some weeks ago so wrapped in gaffer tape to offer some protection until I get round to painting it with some sort of under seal.

I’ve emailed photos to Bmw so it’ll be interesting to see what they have to say about the corrosion and weeping oil of a low mileage well maintained bike.
If they do nothing about the corrosion, which I think will be the case, il clean it again and coat it in dinatrol

Had a service and factory engine bars fitted and that created a leak when somehow the hard seal between the sump and main block cracked. Chester were really good picking the bike up and it’s a three hour job stripping down the lot for access, to reseal the two together again
Not personally qualified to confuse cats, but I can recommend an extremely good service.

My wifes 2016 S1000Xr "developed"  hole in the front edge of the sump.
Perfectly in line for stone chips etc, from resurfaced roads.
As the sump was in UK stock I am guessing its not an uncommon fault area.
I temporarily fixed with plastic metal but felt it wasnt a long term solution.
Shes only done 46,000 mile on it!

I know of one person who has his back in the dealer's just now - with what was described to me, as a leaking oil pump which fills some void, and out the sump to tarmac.

No spares available, so a new loan bike.

I have the same issue, and bike is heading for service on Wednesday.
I’ve been told is a leak around water pump seal.
