Gen 2 "Quad Black" paint project

I picked up my 2020 S1000XR last September, it had the Ice Grey paint. I didn't really care for the color, but it was the only TE bike remaining in the Pacific Northwest, so, color be damned!   :001:

As time wore on, I liked the paint less and less. So the "Quad Black" was started and is now complete.  This is six coats of "Candy Jet Black" under 3 coats of clear:

The project came out looking pretty nice - I'm happy with it.  :152:

It looks absolutely stunning, black really suits the bike.

    Cracking job there.
I have had a couple of bits carbon dipped and though getting other parts wrapped. Although i think a mix of the Black and grey will eventually do. Deciding where to stop is the problem. I quite like the Ice Grey.
Must have been a fair strip down job to get that look though.

Knowing BMW that will be next years color to try and entice us to spend more money  :152: :062:

I tried to like it... I thought it looked fair enough, but over time...  I thought less of it, for some reason.  But I admit it made for some nice photos...

    Looks really good. Well done!
    Two questions.
I watched an interview of the CEO of KTM and I was surprised that they take in account for weight reduction the fewer paint coatings. Did the paint add 6 to 7 lb to the bike?
    Is the dark screen transparent?

I really don't care for the looks of the new XR (Gen 2) - Sorry guys....But, like this, it looks really nice!  Good work.

I'd hate to think of the cost, but it looks great.
