Taking a V4 S out for a test ride on Saturday. If all goes well then it will be goodbye to the XR as we have already discussed figures etc.

Interested to see what you think of the V4 after your ride.

I'll report back my findings good or bad. Its hard to get a true feel what ownership will be like in 2hrs but I will be able to see what boxes it ticks. The XR is a great bike and does most things I need well but it doesn't inspire me as much as I thought and my local dealer has put me off with their terrible customer service and lies.

Yep I get all that and some, my preferred local BM dealer closed and I assumed UK would force a car dealership to take it on and that has not happened and i’m Not keen on the option, assuming I was closer my preference would be Vines because in another life I was was in there every week collecting press bikes all along time ago.

I’d be astonished if you don’t like the Duke, they are what they are and blimey i’ve Done some miles on a 1098 but I wasn’t paying for the bike or fuel, and while out on a test one day it got trashed into a gazillion pieces not by me i’ll Add.  :001:

As for the X/R yep get that as well, hence why I went non ESA,Dymags Akra headers and aftermarket fuelling and frankly it’s a world away from the bike I bought 5 years, having said all that doing the same with a 1290 KTM.

Look forward to your ‘Take’ on the bike because I understand the motor fires like a twin or pretty dam close.

I used to have a multi, great bike to ride when it wasn’t at the dealer being fixed for its numerous faults. Am interested in hearing what the new multi is like, but wouldn’t buy one again. My experience of BMW dealers has always been good.

That intangible feeling one gets about a bike is at the top of my list of what I want from a bike.  It's not the only thing, many other things must be good too.  If the Multi really grabs you, and it meets whatever other criteria you have, then....... go for it.  I am keeping my XR, there will plenty of us left here.

I have a buddy trying to decide between an XR and a Multi right now.... he is currently on a 2019 Tiger 1200 so suspect whatever he chooses will make him happy

Had a multi 1200s DVT. Great looking bike in white, nice V2 rumble and comfortable for long rides. Two things put me off : the dip in torque between 4-6k rpm (a V2 should be stronger in midrange) and reliability issues. Dealer network wasn’t up to its price tier.
Now in my third XR I am almost happy, given reliability is not good enough. Dealer network is one of the best.
