    Rear tyre puncture today

I had to take a heart monitor back to the hospital for my elderly neighbour today so had a bit of a blast on the back roads on my way home. Unfortunately I picked up a puncture in the back tyre. Luckily I had a plug repair kit under the seat and was able to find the hole, plus the tyre and reinflate it and get home. Now I have to decide whether to trust the plug, get a new plug fitted by a proper technician or but a new tyre. The tyre still has at least 2500 miles of tread left in it so I'm loathe to throw it. I guess I have to visit the workshop this afternoon for their advise!

On closer inspection there is a small tear in the tyre that whilst not right through is down to the wires so its a new tyre.

It always seems to be the rear tyre that gets the puncture

I agree, I had three puctures last year, all in the rear, all caused by damned Norfolk flint which is everyhere here in the North of the county, all on B roads.

Something lies flat on the road, front wheel hits it. It gets upright just in time to rear wheel hits it. common case!

If you're riding it right the front shouldn't be able to get a puncture  :001:

Well as its 100% silica the front is softer than the rear

I got it and thought to myself I must be riding it properly as I've not had a front tyre puncture and the front is often a little light when Im hooning around on it !
