New Battery - Which Shido one?
    on: April 04, 2021, 10:28:16 am

My OEM battery is finally on the way out after 4 years on my 2017 XR, so I’m going to join many others and try the Shido Lithium route.

Only Q is which model? The Shido selector suggests the LTX9-BS, but I’ve seen a few references on this site to folks fitting the LTZ10S.

Any pointers from those with Shido already? The 10 is £40 dearer than the 9 so I’m leaning towards the 9 for a start. Thanks.

Shido Battery LTX9-BS Lithium Ion (YTX9-BS).

That's the one I bought - fits and works perfectly

Me too, and if you go into eBay and put s1000xr lithium you’ll get the same.

I dont think any are an exact fit - I used some plywood underneath. I chose a LTZ 10S which has more power than the 9. Found that some of the sizes were not as stated in the Shido literature

Fab thanks all, I’ll probably go for the LTX9-BS then, partly as those of you with one are happy it does the job and partly because it’s cheapest.

I did sneak a hasty measure around under the seat earlier and a cross-check with sizes from the Shido catalogue... for anyone else interested, I think the following is about right:

    - The LTX9-BS is Shido recommended, fits, and is 3Ah for about £60

    - The LTZ10S is 4AH but actually smaller external dims than the LTX9 above. So less size more capacity... but £100

    - The LTX14-BS is also 4AH but looks too tight height wise; wouldn’t fit my bike based on the catalogue declared dims. Interested how you got yours to fit @Fumes? It’s £72 so would be nice to have a few extra starts in reserve for an extra £12... perhaps this is as @Paul says about the dims not quite being what they say.

was checking the catalogue too. LTX14 is a 15mm higher (or longer on its side), thus a bit less room for that looong negative cable. To me the LTX12 looks perfect. Weird about that LTZ10.

I'm still thinking about getting a 'connect' version so one can easily check the condition of the battery thru the app

I’ll leave it you lot to sort out what battery... :001: just remember to be kind to them during the winter you’ll either need a very old style battery charger of lithium option, I use an Optimate lith version, i’ve Got 5 bikes with lithium batteries and still waiting for one to go belly up and the oldest is 7 years old.

:008: We'll get there.. I have the Shido DC4.0 charger already. Wife left keys on the car a few times too many, had to buy a charger. This one will do 4 Amp, and has standard, AMG, and Li-Ion stettings. Was €60 with shipping. The guy who delivered it drove that day some 800km for just two deliveries, while it was extremely hot. Gave him an icecold coke.

I fitted the Shido Battery LTX9-BS Lithium Ion.  It's height is slightly smaller than the OEM battery, but fits fine.
