Went through 50,000 today

Today my XR has gone through 50,000 miles, I have had the bike since November 2015. I have had it 5 and a half years. Still love the bike and it has had 2 valve services and the valves are all still in spec, I was told the next time the exhaust valves may need adjusting.
I fitted a manual cam chain adjuster at 24,000 miles as it was getting noisy and the bike is still quiet on start-ups, I have adjusted it twice since fitting it.
One of the micro switches failed but the other was working, the cruise control stopped working but the quick shifter still worked, I think it was the lower one, and the garage picked it up and £50.00 to replace, been perfect since.
The exhaust seized twice and BMW didn’t pick it up even in warranty, they said it will not stop the bike starting and I later proved it does, it seized again and I removed the pull cable, the top one and it started, I rode to the BMW Garage and they said it will not stop the bike starting, they reconnected and it would not start, disconnected and it started, loved proving them wrong as they were so adamant it would still start if not working.
The BMW chain lasted about 18,000 miles and had 3 tight spots so replaced, I have had 2 Renthal chain and sprocket sets, first one was about 22,000 miles and just worn, no tight spots, so replaced with the same. I still have the same rubber crush drives as there is very little play each time I check when the rear wheel is out.
Replaced the headers to remove the exhaust valve issue, and fitted a Mivvi can, I went to CJS racing in Bristol to have it remapped, was lean at 15 to 1 very happy with the results and he turned the servo off at the same time.
I have replaced the headlights with LED units as they give the bike a more up to date look.
I replaced the rear ESA shock with a Triactive unit, the hydraulic preload failed, as I hadn’t adjusted it in 5 years and it seized in place and started weeping when I tried to adjust it, happy with the results, was done as a ride in, ride out service with their distributor in Cambridge, Torque Racing Services.
It had to go to BMW to reset the ABS and traction control as a result. They said when it was in all 3 discs were down to the limits and should be replaced the next time, I change the pads.
I tried the new model but wasn’t impressed, if the bike had to be replaced would get the same model but a newer one.

Very nice run down there.
Out of curiosity what LED units did you go with?

Good report, thank you. What I found most useful was the info on valve adjustment and chain replacement.

An interesting milestone:
54,000 mile service booked in for the 21st April. Everything crossed that the valves don't need adjusting

I got the light units from this person in the States, MattGeckoLEDs.com, off Ebay, came quickly and they were easy to fit, just need to remove the red front panels and was plug and play.
Like the updated look it give the bike.
