That was the immediate go-to intent voiced by the Eurosport folks. They tried to look it up in the parts fiche, but there wasn't enough info to place a Spiegler order. According to them, we need to find someone who has exposed the whole line and measured it; we need to do that to my bike; or we can order one from BMW for $300 just for measuring. I'm trying to understand nomenclature here, what do you mean by "mc to ABS module"? Thanks.

Afaik the line from the MC goes straight to the ABS block so it's the only relevant brake line to the bar heights, all other brake lines come from the ABS block to each of the callipers.

Thanks. Where's the ABS block buried?

Not 100% sure on the gen 2 but on the Gen 1 it was directly under the front seat just a by the fuel tank, since they didn't change much in terms of braking I imagine it's in a similar place on the Gen 2, should be pretty obvious, bunch of banjo bolts and hydraulic lines running into it.

Thanks. Tomorrow's a garage day; I'm going to poke around and see what I can determine. That and call my old tech to ask what he did, e.g. whole new line vs replace the flexible piece.

there are 2 lines the 'top' one runs from the mc(master cylinder) to the ABS module under the seat(well, on the Gen1 anyway), this is the line you need to extend. the 2nd or 'bottom' line runs from the ABS module to the calipers with a split(to left and right) under the triple tree..

If you feel like running down to Spartanburg on your XR, we could try to do a sort of comparison measure, I have my OEM brake lines sitting in a box in the garage.

On Gen 2 it's in the centre of the frame, under the driver seat. You can barely see it through the triangle hole in the frame, left side of the bike, right from the shifter axle. Very difficult to reach. My bike was part of the recall where they had to replace one of the bolts holding the ABS module. All the fairings, including fuel tank had to be removed in order to reach it
