   Hi All, just looking for insurance quotes as my Bennetts renewal has gone up again even after reading insurance renewals have actually dropped!   Do BMW's come with datatag or alphadot etc from the supplier when new? I only ask as I purchased mine new in 2019 and the comparison sites are asking the question about security etc factory fitted.

Datatag was standard on my '15. Assume that's still current, or at least up to end of gen 1. Should be a couple of warning stickers attached. Mine are in the under seat compartment and on the plastic around the headstock.

mine came with datatag as standard. brought mine in jan 2021.

I thought that they all come with Datatool now. Datatool is a tracker, Datatag is just an identifying marker.

My 2021 TE had a DATATOOL tracker as standard. Works well

Mines also a 2019 and Datatag as standard.

It would be more useful if you let the op know what you had on your Gen 1 which was probably a 2019 like his wasn’t it? You had three, can’t be far off.

It’s looking like Gen 1 had Datatag and Gen 2 gets Datatool tracker. Remains to be confirmed.

a 2019 bike will have Datatag and will also have a factory fit immobiliser i.e. you need the coded key to start the bike

the comparison sites should know this anyway, as all BMWs have had them for a long time as it is an EU requirement

My 2019 came with Datatag, factory fitted alarm/immobilizer and DataTool tracker (subscription based)
Bennetts wouldn't offer any discount for the Tracker despite all the talk of how they reduce insurance premiums.

   Thanks all, so looking like datatag.   I will add it to the comparison site quote and find it makes zero difference to the price no doubt.

    Bennets gone up again to £235  fully comp, new company to me on the comparison site, BEMOTO, £153 .  Big difference.  I have been stung before though with MCE and Mackenzie Hodgson so always wary about changing.  Always seems bennetts goes up at least £20 a year though no matter what.
