I've just fitted one of the dashboard anti-theft frames made by Cymarc and purchased from Nippy Norman's.  It's well made and is very secure, but it really is a fiddle to fit.

But there is no evidence that a TFT has ever been stolen from any BMW, it is all hearsay and fake news.

Not sure that I believe everything that I see on the internet either. Still it makes money for someone selling protectors.
Why steal something that is no use to anyone other than a BMW owner? Better fit locking nuts to the silencer as that is only a couple of fastenings to steal.

We're going to struggle, then  :164:

Someone on another forum fitted a sunscreen to their TFT and cracked the screen in the process.   £1,200 new replacement, or £600 from a salvage yard (or ebay, possibly stolen).

So - it appears that they are able to be swapped between bikes.

Maybe the MCN article is self-prophetic.  But - it sells copy.

some scumbags are after them, dont know why. I had a word with the dealer and they did have one or two incidents(this was in JAN). I got the cymarc kit and fitted it. was fiddly but great satisfaction, nobody can just rip it anymore.

I had the bmw screenprotector fitted, so was not scared of scratching.

Think most of the incidents are in London.

Was in my dealer this morning talking about this. He looked on the spares computer system and no TFTs have been ordered in France to replace one on a bike.

    Interesting.

Maybe the issue is small/insignificant, who knows?

Maybe the scrotes are all in UK?

Well with how XRs are actually fairly common it wouldn't surprise me if it's just a single group of thugs riding about being opportunistic every time they see an Gen 2 XR, most probably wouldn't even think about it if they didn't know it's this easy to take off.

What's this world coming to when you have to worry about someone stealing your dash on your motorcycle.... Here in the US, the hot thing to steal right now are catalytic converters.  It's so bad that you can't even find OEM or after market replacements....As OP said, they get a couple $ for each one and we pay $1500 to replace them.  So infuriating.... :087:
