    6th Sense

I was wondering how many times our sixth sense kicks in whilst riding? For instance, yesterday, I was stuck behind 4-5 cars and the road opened up going downhill and I had the chance to let rip and overtake. At the last moment I decided against and held off. About 2/3 down, hidden away, was a police speed trap. I would have been a gonna!
And the number of occasions that I have sensed that a car is going to cross in-front of me and does, too frequent to count.

6th sense for people doing daft stuff, not so much for speed traps :)

I think the daft stuff is your sub conscious realising things are not quite normal.

I agree. I think in comes from many years of road experience.

I guess like muscle memory, in the same way you don’t think “I need to brake”, your brain is trained to recognise and work ina certain way through experience.

I was sat at the head of a queue at red traffic lights and another smaller motorcycle pulled up behind me. When the lights changed I would normally have blasted away and taken the next left into the works carpark but this time something told me that the car approaching from the side wasn't going to stop despite him now being on red lights. As soon as he was gone I blatted off and into work. The bike that had been behind me at the lights pulled up next to me in the works car park and the rider asked me how I knew that the car wasn't going to stop. I just said to him years of road experience as that is all i could think that gave me that 6th sense in that instance as the driver had plenty of time to stop and wasn't going obviously mad before going through on red.
