Aftermarket seats? Anyone using?
« on: May 03, 2016, 02:56:08 AM »
Love this bike but would prefer to be able to change the seat out for different riding styles.  I'm 5' 10" and often find myself feeling too far forward on the bike when riding the twisties in a more spirited fashion.
Has anyone out there found and aftermarket distributer that has created a good alternative to the stock XR?
Thanks!
Many people ride.....but for a select group of people it's more than a ride....it's one of life's great passions.

Same as that.
I read a post from someone, somewhere, who had a gel or foam insert fitted in the standard seat and had got the upholsterer to add a small 'wedge' in the front of the seat to avoid this slipping forward.
I've so far only made a half hearted attempt to get something like this done - I mailed three companies whose websites say they can do whatever you want to your seat - so far one has replied they they don't have gel inserts but if I can provide it they can fit it & the other 2 haven't bothered to reply.  :009:
I'll make another attempt soon & will let you know if I get something sorted

I rode a demonstrator with a stock seat and didn't like it so did a deal and had the HP seat from day one.

I've a Kahedo on my k1200r which is an absolute gem but I've yet to see if the German firm do one as yet.

Motorbike Seats - Talk to Melvin, very knowledgable regarding comfort and shape.
He has re-upholstered my seat with gelastic and raised front with a Givi top box plate mounted to the pillion section so the box is mounted right behind me.

If your ball sack is touching the tank, you aren't riding fast enough  :008:

That sounds just the job.
Peter, can I ask how much & how long did it take (seeing as I'll have to post mine over & be XRless in the interim) ?

I have a Corbin heated seat. Love it. Also have the backrest for passenger. You can see it in the pictures that I posted.
