Which windscreen is best for Gen 2

I do realise there is another thread on this subject - but its getting very long and is not GEN 2 specific.
So I started a new one.

I purchased the MRA Windscreen - see elsewhere if you want to buy it.

i was very pleased with it.

    Before I purchase again.

Can anyone suggest which screen is best for a GEN 2

In my opinion the standard screen. Any other is too tall and puts your helmet in turbulent air causing noise.

Hi Norksman, you're probably  going to get lots of contradictory replies for this one. It is very subjective and brings into play many individual parameters such as rider height, sitting stance, shoulder width, helmet make etc., etc. For what it's worth I replaced the BMW tall screen with a Powerbronze and it works for me. Never had much success with MRA.

Ok, yes, I see your point.

I will take a look at powerbronze too

As above screen preference is very much down to the individual. I have the BMW comfort? screen on my Gen2 and was specced by supplying dealer so cant say what the stock screen was like. The comfort screen does allow a bit of buffetting in gusty conditions but its acceptable for me and probably as good as I could want, certainly less helmet tugging (ooeer missus) than any of the screens I tried on my previous bike (Honda ATAS) .

I have the powerbronze sport one. I'm tall, high seat, and prefer the airflow. BMW sport one is nicer, de powerbronze feels a bit thin, and is 'flat'. It doesn't have the 3D curves like the BMW one. I find the BMW sport one too short, the GPS (or phone) sticks out. This one looks interesting to me, is between the sport and standard lengthwise:

I have the MRA Vario X-creen; it has a larger deflector (the upper adjustable screen) than previous vario versions. I bought it for maximum adjustability of the air pocket. With my current deflector angle/height setup (below), I use the OEM low position except at interstate speeds when I switch to the OEM high position to quiet the air bubble. Interestingly, when in the high position, I get more air on the sides of my body, which helps in warm weather.

See my thread here (it's Gen 2 specific): https://www.s1000xr.uk/index.php/topic,4623.0.html

In short, I have tested standard screen, BMW Comfort and now MRA Vario (standard one, not the X-screen with larger spoiler)

Standard screen is the worst. Comfort screen is very close to MRA Vario, but MRA wins by a hair because it provides a slightly calmer airflow than the Comfort screen. Interestingly, MRA works the best (at least for me) with spoiler almost flat against the screen (2 clicks from the lowest position). With spoiler fully extended, you get more wind protection, but also some turbulences at the top of the helmet, which is very similar to the Comfort screen in high position.

All in all, I would say that MRA Vario is maybe 15% better than OEM Comfort screen. At least for me and my height (178 cm's, or about 5'10).
Honestly, difference is so small that I'm considering going back to the Comfort screen because it looks better on the bike and it's not blocking the view like MRA when fully extended

    Many thanks for the replies.

As i am going to buy a new machine, i can specify the BMW comfort screen. Although, Oddly for a touring bike the motorsport edition comes with a sport screen….

I am not sure if BMW call their screen ‘Comfort’ . I will check and report bck.
