LOWERING the handlebars

I am new to the XR. I welcome the bars and position coming from a K 1200 S. But I feel they're too high and too wide. Any pointers on a set set of straighter bars?

Unfortunately lower bars will hit the front fairing and tank on full lock.

As some one who has owned a K1200r Sport for 12 years and currently in the process of fitting a 1300 box and clutch pack...sorry i’m Digressing....it’s just a culture shock swapping between them seating position wise, you will soon get used to it.

Some people have lopped 2-1/2" off total width of the bars before, which is always tempting. (2015-2019 model)

If you are used to the K1200s - best advice is to make sure you are leaned forward with arms bent - before cracking open the throttle in lower gears.

I've a friend that has done this, a bit more than half an inch either side, threads are still there for bar ends, obviously clearances are not an issue since cables get closer, but not by too much, obviously you'll need to drill new holes for the switchgear locators. It feels good when I sat on it, has a much more standard bike feel, mirrors  still plenty enough to see behind, and I have fairly wide shoulders especially with gear, that said I'm perfectly happy with the wide bars myself so I don't think I'll be bothering.

This  Even in dynamic it can come up real quick before electronics intervene.
