    Gen 2 seat comfort comparison

    Evening,, ,
Just wonder if anyone has had any experience with a standard seat and a low seat, just wondering what you  think of the comfort of the low compared to the standard,
I have a standard seat at the moment, which I find comfortable, but being a short ass I would be prefer a low seat , but I don’t want to spoil my comfort drastically, so any input would be good

My 2021 came with the low suspension and low seat. I found the low seat to be unacceptably harsh. I bought a comfort seat and I found that to also not be quite enough. I had 3/4" of memory foam added to the comfort seat. Note: This was be done without having to make a new cover; the OEM cover is removed, 3/4" memory foam is added on top of the comfort seat's foam, and the OEM cover is reinstalled. I just completed a 2440 mile ride on this seat and found it to acceptable 95% of the time. If you like the low seat height, I recommend you add 3/4" of memory foam to it and see if that works. Adding the memory foam does not increase the height noticeably.

I'm 6' 1" and I prefer the low seat to the standard or high. I've got a full set of seats!
The low seat is the only one that supports the whole of your backside and doesn't push you into the tank. Sitting in the slight bowl is just so much more comfortable for cruising. I don't have knee problems, so can take the extra knee bend.
Track day, is a different matter altogether. Getting the old bones across side to side isn't so easy when you are sitting down in a bowl.

I have standard seat and was not happy with it. I had a custom seat on my old bike and very used to it. I brought the comfort seat and returned it as soon as I got home. custom seat is not much more comfortable than the standard seat.

I am now looking at custom seat for the bike.

Did you wrap the foam around the seat or just install in the valley portion. Trying to get more details on what you did so I can duplicate it

Just called her to make sure I had it right. She said that she added the memory foam to just the valley portion. She did NOT wrap the foam around the sides; she said doing that would not have added any benefit and would have made the cover poof out on the sides. She said she did shave an angle in the edge of the memory foam so the transition from memory form to OEM foam was smooth and not visible when the OEM cover was put back on. Hope it works for you as much as it has for me.

That’s what would make sense to me as well. Now to find someone to do it. Thanks for the info, much appreciated

If you are in the US, and in the Washington, D.C. area I have a custom seat guy in Rockville, MD who built a custom pan-up two-up seat for both my cruiser and my XR.

I used Dianna's Shop in Mills River, NC, just south of Asheville. She does business in person or via shipping. Her web site is https://diannasshop.com
