Navigator 6 Mount. Copper pin snapped off - no power

Out on the bike today for 6 hours, the Nav 6 suddenly switched off. I pulled over and the battery on the Nav 6 was dead. I took the unit off and noticed that the top LH copper pin on the mount was missing and, by deduction, reckon that pin provides the bike power supply. Any bright ideas on how I might fix it?

Frankly there is little you can do with a normal pin, even less with pins like that in such close proximity. only semi permanent solution i can think of is get a tiny spring, and solder it to the pin so it always makes contact, it'd be easier to do it on the navi side but I'm sure you don't wanna mess with the navi when the cradle is probably replaced much cheaper. You can probably get a replacement for the middle connector array from somewhere.

Thanks, I came to the same conclusion. I spoke to my dealer and they have never heard of this happening before. They quoted between £140 and £180 for a replacement mount fitted. I have just realised that the unit is still under warranty so I have contacted Garmin to get a replacement mount. Fingers crossed.

Dealer has agreed to replace the mount at my next service, under warranty.  :002:

That's a good result.      You can get a decent mount with all cables for maybe £45 on ebay and forums, but there is a bit of work to get the cables routed neatly and into the thumbwheel.

not heard of that before - usually it is just sticky pins that can be sorted with a spray of WD40 etc.

Good to hear, they want nothing to do with me and my DRLs still but at least they're holding up their end of the bargain for warranty lol

If your dealer can't help, always call Garmin when something like this happens. Even when you are out of warranty, they try to help. Case in point: Over the years, I've had units start acting up a couple of times, called them, sent them the unit, and they sent me a reconditioned unit for a hundred or so dollars. I have a friend going through the process right now for a Nav VI.
