Looks like the NAV 6 has had a new release. Looks identical but the OS has had a bit of a tweak.

Don't know why its not called a NAV 7?  :084:

I spoke with the Sales Manager at Cotswold Motorrad this week and asked him if a Nav 7 was on the way.He said that he had heard rumours but nothing had been confirmed by BMW as yet.

It's not fake news. I have ordered one and waiting for it to arrive.
    It has a new part number: 77 52 8 504 067 (old one is 77 52 8 355 994). These numbers are for European versions.

It's available on Ebay too: https://www.ebay.de/itm/284275300160

Apparently, new version has an upgraded display and different (better ?) user interface. Visually it looks the same as the previous Nav VI

I have ordered mine from the local BMW dealer. If that means something...

Before you go out and buy this updated Nav6 consider this. The cost is around 800 Euros. The new Nav6 has, quote "With highly sensitive GPS / GLONASS receiver". This is pretty old fashioned stuff here, what happened to the other 2 or 3 satellite systems that mobile phones pick up like AGPS and Galileo? My phone even has dual GPS receivers.
For the TFT equipped bikes the much more powerful phone GPS can be used with the BMW connected app (Tom tom maps). The instructions come onto the TFT and over the headphones. You can even see the whole route on the phone if you mount that within view too. Despite what some seem to think, the app does not use phone data at all, all the maps are on the phone.

Phone vs BMW Nav depends a little on what you want from them… I use my Nav VI far more as a moving map than a pre-programmed ‘sat nav’ I.e I view the map and plan a route as I go in my head.

And that’s the killer feature of the BMW Navigators; you can zoom in and out with the Jog Wheel to get the detail level you want, no finger pinch/swipe faffing.

Beyond that; yes I think many other solutions; phone, other Navs, TFT turn-by-turn etc are probably a better and cheaper way of getting a traffic-aware sat nav.

Bit dumb changing the spec and not revising the model description to Nav 7 though. It might not be a ground up redesign, but it ain’t the same either by the sound of it. Anything to confuse the consumer more.

Nav7 probably upsets some tribe or social group somewhere in the world, iPhone or Samsung had to miss a model number in fear of upsetting the Chinese if I remember correctly.
