    UK model 2016

    Hello All,

I just picked up 2016 s1000xr that is originally from the UK.  I bought it from a from someone who moved back to the states with the bike then decided to go in a different direction with his riding.  I have a lot of documentation with the bike, but not everything.  I was hoping that some of the people on this forum can help me.

    It has non-electronic suspension.
It only has two riding modes (rain and road).

Was there a very basic model sold in the UK?
All I can find on US models is bikes sold with rain, road, and dynamic.
My bike has a factory alarm system, heated grips, quick shifter, a DATATAG system (which I am assuming is a UK based vehicle tag).

Can dynamic mode be added at the dealer? I have read a bit on line, and all I can find is adding dynamic pro to a bike with dynamic mode.  I cant find anything about adding dynamic mode to a bike with rain mode and road mode.

I have an appointment at the dealer here to give the bike a once over, but I cant get it in for another month.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

    Cheese

I had to custom order my non ESA in 2016 (had to wait 10 weeks) have since fitted a Wilbers rear shock and it’s fantastic, having bought a KTMGT in 2019 it being my first experience of electric suspension and currently very unimpressed, being unable to separate front from rear settings.

The difference as my understanding, non ESA also have black forks, fuelling wise it has 4 modes the same as the ESA, Rain/Road/Dynamic/Dynamic Pro.

The pro was only activated after the 600 service.

If you are in it for the long haul i’d Buy a GS-911WIFI, and while i have one, never checked if it’s possible to install the Dynamic and Pro using it.

Cheers for the advice and experience.

I’ll look into the gs911.  I’m also going to look into getting the dynamic mode added to the bike, if it is not cost prohibitive.

    Thanks again,

    Cheese

Seems very strange that you do not have all 4 options because they are stock,if you are in it for the long haul...always said...best starting point I have ever had on a bike...even then theirs a transformation to had, particularly as you have the ability to alter the suspension as well as the fuelling.

It should have the three modes available in stock trim, Rain, Road and Dynamic..... and D-pro when the "dongle" is fitted. If it only has Rain & Road modes available...I suspect something is a bit strange.

    Smithy.

That is what I am wondering.  It rides excellent. My impression from what I have read is that no dynamic means no change in traction control or ABS, but the same HP and torque.

I want dynamic mode for the added abs and TC settings.

I’ve been looking at parts diagrams to figure out what the differences might be. I may call another dealership this week to see if they can tell me the difference.

What do you mean by this??? there are no added settings that can be adjusted(like on the RR), Dynamic just makes them a little less intrusive.

What you wrote is what I would like.

Without independently adjustable  TC or ABS, the only additional setting available are Dynamic and dynamic pro.  If I get dynamic, I can get dynamic pro.  Two more settings than I have now.

My thoughts as well, will interesting to hear what the dealer says, or maybe short circuit the situation with a GS-911 ?

From what I remember the basic bike came with the two modes.

The 'Sport' designation then added dynamic mode (and probably the ability to fit the 'pro' dongle after first service) and most likely some other stuff.

The 'SE' designation added the touring gear.

It would appear that most (in the U.K at least) were 'Sport SE' and the opp has a basic version. Whether it can be upgraded or not I'll guess he'll find out at the dealer.
