    Title..

Clarify 2018 S1000R akro end can onto my 2017 XR

Looks suspiciously close when side by side, has anyone tried this or know of them being interchangeable?

    Thanks

I pulled the trigger on a S1000R can, reports online said that it would fit with some small modifications in the passenger peg .
Well, I wouldn't say small after all...
As you can see in the pic, actual can is fitted with no problems but the peg needs serious shortening. I'm currently searching for someone locally to fabricate an exhaust hanger or even better a set of new passenger pegs, simpler design, integrated peg/hanger right side. We'll see how it will work out.
Note that sc-project sells a set on higher pegs (that is used for it's high mount exhaust version) but its quite pricey (290€) and you won't know if it will fit after all.

So if you time travel…. Would you tell yourself not to bother and wait for a proper XR one or go aftermarket?

Because that excellent reply has made me not get involved with the R can at all.

    Thanks very much

My problem is that I don't like how stock/Akrapovic can looks, to low for my taste. So, no regrets for me, I knew that by getting the R can I would have to do some customizing but I just hoped it would be something I could do in my garage. It needs proper fabrication, I could only come up with that  :008:

    (1) How does your passenger fit the shortened seat to foot peg distance on the right with the original seat to foot peg distance on the left?

    (2) Is the new right bracket strong enough to take a passenger's full weight if they stood up to dismount?

    1) I'm going to fabricate both sides so they'll be equally distanced from passenger seat. It would be more crumped but I rarely take pillion and if my wife wants a longer trip, I can always shift to original setup (exhaust/pegs).
    2) That's the fabricator's job, I'll describe the usage and he'll come up with the materials and final design.

Note that the bracket you see in last pics is nothing more than a homemade attemp to hold the exhaust in place untill actual pegs are manufactured.
