you will only see it in the paper edition or a subscription channel on the day it is published. It might appear on the "free" website eventually.

Let me guess, it gets crapped on for how "uninspiring" and "clinical" it is compared to the SA's "thumping V-twin" and Multistrada's "orchestra of V4 noises"  :745:

Not far off, but after that they decide that the XR is the bike they prefer - comfortable, lighter and quicker handling.

I test road the V4MS a while ago, and it is a lovely bike. Handling somewhere between the surefootedness of a GSA and agility of an XR. Engine was good, but I found it strange - they have made the firing order to give it "character" and I found it felt rough but was actually dead smooth if that makes any sense? Lovely bike, but can't bring myself to hand over £23k for one - I guess my Triple Black will stay until there is a good deal on the new Triple Black Gen 2.

(I also rode the Harley Pan America - surprisingly good and non-Harley like to ride, and tried to ride the new KTM 1290 S but after standing in the shop for 10 minutes trying to get a test ride and being ignored I walked out)

I heard that a lot about the V4MS, i have ridden an FZ6 like that, it was rattly and harsh and sounded like the engine was pulsing instead of smoothly revving, but if you tuned all that out power delivery and ride was perfectly smooth. Sound can really mess with perception of smoothness. I found that out real hard shortly after I got the XR and went "oh yea the vibes that everyone is gushing about are...  there" and then went back to my ER6 and it's like a massage chair by comparison.

What made smile was the other two have 19” front wheels so not a snowballs chance in hell of giving the X/R a run for its money the motors are a minor detail, the 955 Tiger that I bought new in 01 and still have was transformed when I put a 17” Dymag in the front, although the Ohlins and Beringers didn’t Exactly do it any harm.
