I have a 21 plate with M package . It’s got an Akra can . Really quiet . I’m thinking of selling it and getting something different .
    Couple of questions ,
What’s the akra worth to sell ? .
What’s decent to replace it with ?

    Thanks

Unless you fit proper headers, it won't sound much different no matter what end can you fit...90% of the "mufflering" is done in the cats.

I've seen a few on Flee bay for £600 but they are not sold so maybe not!

What’s decent to replace it with?
Just why would you, sorry to say this but why make more noise than you need to, what's is the point other then p!ssing of none bike people?

Some council are looking at putting in noise cameras, most track days are noise restricted, so all we'll end up doing is helping council's make the decision.

That said you can take the DB killer out of the end can.
I've not tried it as yet but I would think that's the cheapest option first.

After over thirty + years behind the bars, there's still lots to do and see.

I'm with GazK on this, don't understand why people want to make their bikes louder. They're loud enough, can someone please explain the attraction?

For the XR, Gen 1, I see no reason. I'll be going headers which will increase sound, but the reason I want it is performance, I'll be looking into ways to muffle the sound and I intend to keep the exhaust valve in place so in lower engine modes it can quieten the exhaust a little. For Gen 2 it sounds a little anemic. The pops and bangs of the Gen 1 are extremely pleasing to my ear, Gen 2 doesn't do it, so a little louder gives it other sort of excitement when twisting the throttle or downshifting. I'm in the camp that you should get a tasteful exhaust that's not necessarily louder than stock, but cleans the exhaust sound up from hissy, tinny to a nice growl, but not ear piercing fart cans like those gixxer boys with their straight pipe M4 Megaphone exhausts.

The Gen 2 sounds crap . I fitted an ESE which made it sound better . I’ve got a mate who makes custom exhausts . He’s given me a few ideas.
Because cobra cans are expensive for what they are .
Some on eBay are just cheap crap . So I’m going over on my bike Wednesday . See what ideas he has .

    Will keep you posted

Having said all that, I would like to change my standard exhaust in the gen 1 to one that looks better but is no louder.
