    Detective work needed

I found this T45 bolt (M8-35) on my garage floor this morning - I've scoured my '18 and can't find anything missing.  Something obviously needs attention - any of you have any idea as to what it could be?  Really appreciate the help.

I'm not convinced it might be off the bike as it doesn't seem to Say BMW on the bolt. BMW has almost all of their bolts tagged, certainly the torx ones. I may be wrong but i've yet to find a bolt not tagged as BMW, only ones I can remember being T45 M8x35 may be the exhaust bolt that goes into the rear of the engine holding the cats, that's an M8x35 and has a socket cap torx head. Also near the bottom and would not be immediately obvious.

    Looks like something 'exhausty'. :187:

Too short for the small exhaust tube clamp?

Well, fingers crossed then, if its any consolation, if a bolt shook loose, it'd fall off mid ride,  not when it's standing still for sure, other than that you'd have to have been working on something for the bolt to be coming out if it's standing still, if yes, you know where to look, if no then it's simply not from the bike. Looks very rusty to me too to be an XR bolt. The bolts on the XR are mostly ally or ti or stainless, so they shouldn't really go all brown, especially in the threads like that.

there M8x35mm hex cap screws in the lower triple fork clamps and also in the front axle pinch bolts.

My mind went to the exhaust clamps too. You could also check rearset bolts, centerstand bolts...
