That's interesting I use a extension cable but never thought about making it captive like that, great Idea :-)

Thanks. Does Sena ambient mode work on yours?

As well as it works with any setup. I find the microphone does not pic everything up that well.

Assume you mean the Sena ambient mic. That's because it's inside the unit behind the rubber flap of the charging port :112:. Found that info somewhere on the Sena forum. Close the flap and nothing. Leave it open and it works depending on how far open it is. I made up a contraption that uses the Bose ambient mode. Won't win any design awards but works for me

Oh I will try that, I generally make sure the flap is closed to keep water out.

I am tempted to give the Cardo packtalk units a try, just need to persuade my mates.

I personally run the Midland BTX1 Pro as i found it has the best noise cancellation and excellent speakers. On the XR with the MRA up i can talk on the phone at 120mph no problem. Comes with regular wired or a Boom mic for open face helmets. Costs less than Senna or Cardo and has really good range for BTX to BTX communication, not as good as cardo's packtalk mesh but it only gets interrupted if you're separated and have big trucks or buildings between us.

Not quite the same:
- the noise cancelling you mention is for the mic, so others can't hear the noise in your helmet. About every system has that
- the noise cancelling of the Bose is for you own ears, an alternative to earplugs

As for buttons vs. the rotary control, my preference after having had the first Cardo Freecom is the rotary one. For volume alone it has a much finer control, something I appreciate in combination with the Bose. Where with the Cardo one push would be just a bit too loud, with the Sena control is almost too fine. The control wheel on the new cardo's is way too small in my opinion
