Hi guys,
I'm about to buy a used NAV 5 for my bmw xr 1000 2017. The question i have is, since im buying it used from someone else, will i still have access to the lifetime maps updating from garmin.
Thanks
Dan

Just make sure that the previous owner de-registers it from their Garmin account. That allows you to register it to your own "MyGarmin" and get lifetime updates.
If they never registered it and owned it from new - there is nothing to do.

I recently purchased a used Nav V for my wife, registered it and get the free update maps. I have no idea if the previous owner de-registered or not, but would not be a bad idea.
