    Gen 2 Vibrations - Opinions

I went to buy a Used Approved Gen 2 yesterday, and among a few other things it vibrated terribly! The moment I started it before I got on I could feel it in the handgrips. A 12 mile test ride and my feet started to tingle! :033:

I've ridden two Gen 2s before, one when they were launched that did vibe a bit, and then an extended test ride a few weeks ago on one that was dead smooth and I thought they had fixed the vibes completely.

Anyone else have problems on a Gen 2?

Could be down the the break in miles, demo bikes might've had enough miles to smoothen out, how many miles was there on yours?

Would agree with the post above. If someone does not run a bike in then one of the things that seems to show itself is vibration. The girlfriends new XR was run in very carefully and there is not a single vibration from the machine, it is a smooth as silk.
I would walk away and find another one.

After almost 1400 miles and the first service done, I'd say my Gen 2 has the same amount of vibrations as it was from new, that said I did put the heavy bar end weights on, on day two as they were sat there off my old XR.

Is the Gen 2 better then the Gen 1 yep but not by much I can see more in the mirrors at the same rev's\ road speed I guess some of that is down to the gearing and the bars being a little less wide.
After over thirty + years behind the bars, there's still lots to do and see.

Well the smooth one was a demo with about 1,000 miles, and the one with vibrations was about 1 year old with 5,000 miles. My Gen 1 felt so refined and smooth compared to the  one with 5,000 miles, you could touch any part of the bike and feel the vibrations - I only managed 12 miles on it.

3500 miles in on new Bike and never had any issue with Vibration at all.
Can even see what is in mirrors at high speed.

Just got my xr 3 weeks ago. It was a demo bike with only 385 miles on it. It does vibe a bit but nothing that I can say would make my hands tingle. The longest ride so far has been 200 miles an it is very manageable. I wouldn't even say it's a problem really, just a characteristic of the bike. However, I was surprised with the vibes as I thought they fixed the issue and it would be dead smooth like my MT-09. At least not until triple digits then the MT-09 gets really wild up front.

But it was probably thrashed to death for the first 385 miles. Had you bought it new it new and treated it properly then it might have been as silky smooth as my girlfriends 4 month old bike.

Probably wouldn't make a difference, modern bikes need minimal break in, things might need to settle which happens after a long time, manner of riding won't affect that at all.
