What Brakes Are On The Latest XR?

I've just noticed this on the UK BMW Motorrad site. Are they coming with Brembos again now?


Change to the brake system

Starting on March 1st, the vehicle shown here is expected to be delivered with a brake system from another manufacturer (possibly with different appearance) instead of the Hayes brand brake system.

I've been pretty impressed with the Hayes brakes on the Gen 2.

I've been pretty impressed with the Hayes brakes on the Gen 2. 

I believe there was a "recall" for the Hayes calipers on the early Gen-2's...some were reported as "leaking" so BMW replaced them with the Brembo calipers.

I can confirm that the early gen 2's are being replaced with Brembo's. I am a recipient of the front brembo's under the recall and I am very happy with them. Can't speak to the Hayes calipers, but happy with my brembo's. It would make sense for BMW to revert back to the tried and tested reliability and performance of Brembo.

I noticed my bike came with goodridge brake lines, is this standard, I bought my bike second hand with 150 miles on the clock, so don’t know if it was fitted by previous owner or factory

In Australia if there was a leak from the caliper it would be replaced or repaired with Hayes calipers or caliper seals. Brembos are not being fitted.

It's kinda ironic that the US bikes are 'banning' US manufactured calipers, but they are 'good' for the rest of the world.

The 2022 gen 2 model leaves the factory with Brembo again, the M 4.32 monoblock

Had a look today, there's listing for both Hayes and Brembo for the K69. Previously there was only Hayes.

My Gen 2 I bought in California this June came with Brembo Front.

Another way to think about it. The US has more Karen’s in its population, than the rest of the world
