    Hello all,

Seriously in the hunt for gen 2 xr, I joined this forum to read all about pro's and cons before buying one. I'm looking for something sporty but comfortable at the same time and the xr seems to fit the bill, although some reports suggest that it's not that comfy?

    Kev.

In terms of comfort, it all depends on your base line for comparison. If you are coming from riding a Panigale or GSXR750 then the XR will feel luxuriant in the comfort stakes. If you are more used to riding a K1600 or FJR1300 then the XR will feel like sitting on a strip of angle iron being ground with an angle grinder.

Very true but I would add the Gen 2 is truly less comfortable than the Gen 1. Easy enough fix to get a custom seat, considering the price of the bike, that's a drop in the pond, even if it should be standard.

    I love that comparison  :745:
And I have to agree with the others that comfort is a relative thing. I absolutely adore my 2020 but feel the the gen 1 had a more comfortable seat. That said, I am 6' 1" (or 183cm) tall and 250lbs and can still ride for hours comfortably. I may upgrade the seat someday but definitely not urgent need.
I plan to live forever.  So far, so good!

I'm coming off a mv agusta f3 so probably the seat should be ok, but I will have to have a test ride first.

Also reading alot about the screen, seems some people get buffeting others don't, but there's nothing pefect, but hopefully can be resolved

    WELCOME!!!

The Gen 2 is absolutely Amazing...Highly Recommend!!

The BMW OEM Comfort seat or the Sargent REVolution seats are pretty darn good.

Windscreens are a personel thing. Really depends upon what you are going to do with the bike.
I went with a Gustafsson because, we do primarly Sports Touring (https://bikescreen.com/products/bmw-s1000xr-2020).

    Best,

If the X/R is the route you go, when sorting a deal out include the HP seat, I never had the stock seat on my gen1 didn’t like it and the circumstances I bought mine in I px’d it but that is another story....

In the end sold the HP because they fetch good money and bought various custom seats x2 off eBay before I found the right one.

:400: Another top tip is, if you are buying from a dealer see what other second hand XR’s they have in, when I bought my new Gen1, I got the dealer to take an MRA vario screen off another second hand XR and stick it on mine, my mate did similar when he bought his and got a HP seat.
