Welcome Mikey, you will no doubt enjoy the bike. What are you changing from?

(I was reading about "in-Elmet" place names in a book I am reading at the moment, name apparently is a hangover from an old Brittonic kingdom - apparently Elmet was an old Celtic kingdom...very interesting but I digress!  :001: ).

Hi Becksy thanks for the welcome and the brief history lesson. I've traded in my R1200GS TE as realised I do more quick ride outs than touring although I do like a few trips a year . I had a ride on friends gen 1 xr and just fell in love with it straight away. before the GS I was riding sports bikes so the XR crosses over very well. I also race motocross in the old vets champs so used to wide handlebars more than narrow clip ons.

Yes, the XR is better for ride outs, but also works for tours. Did 5 day tour on mine recently. Enjoy!
