    Hi

The manual of my 2021 s1000xr is saying that an USb socket should be under the seat.
I can’t find it. Is it an option ?

What you are referring to is in Chapter 10 of the 2021 XR Manual under ACCESSORIES? Topics include Socket, USB Charging Socket, Cases, Topcase & Navigation System. I believe the ACCESSORY’S you are looking for can be found HERE: https://www.ascycles.com/bmw/2020/S1000XR/Optional%20Equipment%20and%20Accessories,%20Motorrad/USB%20charger.html#PartsTable .

In the UK, I believe that bikes ordered from Aug 20 have a USB socket under the seat.

Mine is a Sep 20 bike, but was built earlier in the year and doesn’t have a USB socket under the seat.

If yours is a 2021 bike, you’ll have to check when it was built.

You say it's a Sept 20 bike but was built earlier in the year...what does that mean..?? Surely it's not a Sept 20 bike and was just registered in September..??

This can be quite confusing with the British machines.....it can be registered as a 21 plate machine but was actually built in very late 2019....It may have sat around for two years before being registered.....can be difficult when ordered parts etc... I know the VIN will be the definitive thing but it does get frustrating sometimes.

I'm also member of a couple of Ford Transit forums, (Mostly UK oriented) and as an example the guys from England may say they have a 63 plate Transit but when actually look at VIN plate the "build date" it was Aug of 2011...so it is actually a different year model and is a Euro-4 instead of a Euro-5. What is it with that..?? What am I missing..??

probably not what you're looking for but I swapped the front socket for a tourtech double usb. It's pretty much plug and play.

Many Brits are obsessed with the what the number plate reads because it stays with the bike forever and seems to give people status. It is, as you say only the registration date and not the manufacture date. It is quite common to refer to the age of a vehicle as a ** plate, indicating when it was first registered.
I have a Ducati 250 Mk3 in my garage that has a UK plate for 1970 on it. The documentation also tells me that it is 1970, but it isn't. The bike has an engine and frame known as a "narrow case", they stopped making them in 1967. It turns out that the batch of bikes was sent to the US and ended up in storage back in the UK for a few years till registered.
In the UK there are people who will put off buying a new car till the month that the new plate comes out as they don't want their neighbours thinking that their car is a bit older than someone elses car.

I suspect that it’s more to do with the residual value of a vehicle before and after the reg update. Vehicles that appear newer definitely have a (slightly) higher trade in value.

So on a related matter (re:Gen2 USB), has the newest batch of XR's done away with the BMW power socket that is on the inside left-hand side of the cockpit?

Its easy but probably not correct. The UK number plate is the year of first registration with the authorities and is completely unrelated to when the vehicle was manufactured. So a vehicle could have been manufactured 3 years ago but registered today as a "new" 2021 vehicle.🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🙃
