    Any updates on alternative exhausts

Hi Guys - Are there any 'new/latest' updates on alternative exhausts in the market place for the Gen 1 machines other than the usual suspects?

Preferably something that can be got in the UK as now we are out of the EU parts have gone up considerably - not to mention the taxes!

    Cheers

As a relatively new owner of a 2015 model myself, I've searched a bit for the same thing.

As a UK resident, Black Widow has 2 nice mufflers with carbon end cap and interesting design
    https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/154109918802?hash=item23e1aabe52:g:-BwAAOSwbopfc0l2
    https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/143099028508?hash=item21515de41c:g:2rAAAOSwRGhcRfAW

and also Delkevic has a "modern look" muffler as well with carbon end cap
    https://delkevic.co.uk/BMW/S1000%20XR/2015/bmw-s1000xr-2015-2018-343mm-xoval-titanium-bsau-silencer-exhaust-kit.html?search=

    Werx also
    https://www.pipewerx.co.uk/gallery/bmw/s1000xr/

I would buy one the above but since Brexit, we have to pay extra VAT here hence they get to the price range of more "established" brands.

There's also a nice used LeoVince on eBay
    https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/194362887621?ViewItem=&item=194362887621

There's also a polish brand with a nice (and quite cheap) can, Dominator
    https://dominator.pl/en_BE/p/S1000XR-Homologated-Exhaust-Silencer-HP1-2015-2019/2026
but I don't know if because it's outside UK it will stay cheap when you get it.

One problem I have with almost all mufflers is that I don't like the angle of it, which I understand that it's for the panniers. I've been searching extensively and I concluded that the best muffler on that aspect is the Bos one. Which is too expensive IMHO for just a small can.
Currently I'm having a replica mivv can with custom link pipe, which I like a lot BUT in my mind I do feel a bit odd for having a cheap chinese part on my bike, despite it performs without problems and the sound is very nice. I run for a while a s1000r can as well but the amount of modifications (for keeping the stock passenger pegs) put me off and the sound was like stock can. it looked good though.
For now, I have an Sc-project that I wait to put on and see how it works but the most ambitious project will be a set of 2105 S1000RR headers (smaller cats) and an appropriate can that I'm also waiting to try. Hoping the sound won't be too much, as far as I understand, some small mods will also be required as well (maybe a small link pipe add on to get the muffler to the correct spot on passenger peg and maybe the exhaust valve that I intend to keep as well).
We'll see how that goes :018:

lospsi - thanks for the reply and some suggestions - I just don't like the look of those 'big' type of the slip-on cans  that are out there.

The only one that I do like is the Cobra Hyper Short Ultra which in my opinion looks the part and wont interfere with any of the paniers that could be fitted, the only thing against it is that they are expensive.

Think I may look for a second-hand one if there is such a thing?

To be honest, the cobra isn't my cup of tea, has an "American chopper" look. But if you like that look, you could also take a look at pro race exhausts, way cheaper.

I still insist on the Bos exhaust being the slickest muffler.

I looked at the pro race and yes they are 'far' cheaper - but - they are far noisier than the Cobra and you cant have them with passenger foot pegs which is no good for me when I take the other half on the back.

I think that's not the case with the pro race exhaust. I've seen some bikes on FB groups that have them installed with passenger pegs. But, to be fair, it looks a bit tight. :008:
( they do a nice mesh in newer ones if you like too)
