    No ESA

Heard a rumour that a load of the 2022 bikes won’t come with ESA due to factory issues in Germany after the flood?
I was told when I got my bike I was very lucky as it’s not going to be an option going forward.
    Anyone heard the same?

They even offer the Gen 2s without ESA? I've yet to see one. Sincerely doubt that'll be the case, especially if you order it as such.

ESA is on the standard bike even if you choose no packs or options . If there was a no ESA option the bike would be quite a bit cheaper and many would jump on it for the ability to easily fit aftermarket custom suspension

Custom ordered my X/R with non ESA in 2016, we’ll i didn’t someone else did 😀 but that is another story, virtually as soon as it arrived fitted a Wilbers on the back...absolutely love it, if I ever have to buy another X/R and their isn’t a non ESA option I wouldn’t
Buy one, bought a KTMGT in 19 with electric sus...not a fan.

As I said in another post, having worked on an outside display unit for a manufacturer, your average punter doesn’t know a shock spring from a bed spring so I get why ESA sells, but if you do you’ll never be happy it’s just a bodge.

Why would the BMW factory tell a salesman in the UK what their plans are? Salesmen are not known for their honesty anyway.
Thought that the BMW bike factory was still in Berlin, the floods were in the west of Germany about 300 miles away.

It’s probably bmw telling sales that the esa option is no longer avalible but I agree don’t know how accurate it is
It was after I bought the bike so wasn’t a sales ploy.
I think it’s more to do with the electrical innards of esa that this factory makes no the Berlin main plant but who knows that’s why I asked if anyone else had heard.

Yea BMW factory is in berlin, but, the ESA shocks and forks are made by ZF in Bad-Neuenahr-Ahrweiler which is where the flood hit, supposedly they have resumed production but not back to full capacity yet, I doubt BMW would go to the effort of shipping non ESA bikes instead of delaying production or focusing on other lines in the mean time. As i said i doubt there'll be a non ESA line, but indeed there was a hit to D-ESA suspension production

Anyone looking to buy a new X/R, i’d Be looking to track down one of these non ESA bikes a much better option, just play the game of being disappointed and ask for a big discount..just make sure you are doing it with a straight face  :021: :001:
