mdesjard,

I and several of friends added handlebar risers to our Gen 2 XR's. They two most commonly utilized are Wunderlich ( https://www.wunderlichamerica.com/BMW_S1000_XR_Motorcycle_Handlebar_Risers_20mm ) & Hornig ( https://www.motorcycleparts-hornig.com/BMW-S-1000-XR-2020/Alu-High-grade-Steel/Handlebar-Risers-with-offset.html ). Both keep the XR's handle bar central cap. Chief Reasons: Ergonomics & Comfort.

If you are interested in accessories for a Gen 2 XR check out this link:https://www.s1000rrforum.com/threads/my-2021-xr-sport-designed-for-sport-touring.247056/#post-2411040

Yes. I put Roxx 2" risers set at a 45 degree angle backward on my 2021 XR. I had to reroute some of the left hand handlebar cables and I moved the mirror mounts inward 3/4" on the handlebars to provide additional cable slack (required for the left; done on right just for symmetry). I added 2" mirror extensions to put the mirrors back out and then some. At 23,140 miles (37240 km), I'm very satisfied with this riser setup.

I had a 2014 K1600 GTL. Then I went a little sportier with the 2018 K1600GT. Now I'm on the 2021 XR.

I have to say I haven't missed the big girl much. I thought I would miss her more. My wife never rides with me, and I rarely go on a long tours. Maybe once every two or three years I've done a 4 to 7 day ride. I'm mostly doing day rides in the local twisties or along the coast, and I wanted a better bike for the task.

I still consider the K1600 the best bike I've ever owned. But I needed something different after 7 years. Maybe I'll have one again....but may not.

My cruiser is a Honda NRX-1800D Rune which I kept when I bought my XR.  My Rune is heavier and has less horsepower.  I use my Rune for longer cruising rides, and my XR for local and commuting rides.  Different rides = different bikes.

I still have my K16GT, but I haven't done a good tour two up for a few years now and it has done very few miles between services. May have to think long and hard next year, but I do love the big girl.

It still makes me laugh that when we were out in a group going to Colditz Castle we had some time ago on Autobahns, and the big K was actually faster after about 120mph than the XRs were and beat hem top end.
