Hello to all XR riders and bikers of any 2 wheeled machine.

I'll keep it brief, been riding since 1972, 12 years old, scrambling, as we called it back then.

Owned and ridden a bike on the road since 1978, too many bikes to mention here. Started touring Europe in the early nineties on a naked 600 bandit..  that was fun and caught the touring bug in a big way.

Done the Route Des Grande Alpes, and Croatia and lots in between. recently got back from a trip to Castelanne and the Verdon Gorge 

Done lots of training, Ron Haslam race school, advanced cornering at Mallory park, plenty tracks days, last one, September just gone, Cadwell Park.

Swapped my Tiger Sport for an s1000xr 2017 in Red, yesterday while out shopping with my other half..  stopped at a bike shop for lunch, came away with a change of ride..  how did that happen.. 

Anyway, I plan on being a pain in the rear with lots of questions  but I don't mind being told I'm a pain so fire away..

Anyway, here's me ugly mush with my new ride, big grin and looking forward to Europe next year.

I think I looked briefly at the 1050 before buying my XR back in 2016.   It will be interesting to hear how you compare the two.

That's pretty much what the lads on the Tiger site have said.

I will post an honest review once I've had a few good rides, I think you need to get a couple of thousand miles under your belt to fully get the feel for a new bike, that usually covers plenty of road types and weather conditions

Welcome! Is that Jem's Speed Shop? Didn't realise they had an XR for sale, I was there last week. You'll definitely enjoy it!

Well spotted, yes, it's Jem Speed. I only called in for a full breakfast  or so said I to the other half 

They have another one, with luggage and a different colour scheme, I liked the Red and I have luggage so just need a givi rack and pannier frame.

Good find i'm sure you'll be pleased with it, seems like it's already got the essentials like the MRA screen and engine bars.

I was, err, I still visit daily.. love those peeps, they're like family. Joined in 2004 when I had my first aprilia..

Yeah, I know what you mean. I also joined there in 2004 and still visit. It's not to long that I sold my 4th Aprilia so I got used to these old V2s

These bikes though are totally different, just did a 900+km trip in one day with the XR and got home relatevily OK. I would have been destroyed if I dared that with my Tuono

Did 3300 miles on the Tuono Gen2 in 9 days ... I think I can still feel the pain 

Looking forward to touring on the xr..
